Clothes Diet

Hi Ya'll..

So I have some news. I have decided that I am going to be going on a Clothes Diet. This basically means that I am not going to buy any clothes for 6 months!! I know!!!
I have decided to do this as part of a church challenge and I am going to put $30 towards something else in my church instead of spending it on clothes. Its going to be hard but I will survive.
The idea is also to see if I can style my current wardrobe for the next 6 months, with current trends, without having to spend money. Will be interesting and Im looking forward to it.
I have 1 more day until I start and I need to run to Shops tomorrow on my lunch break and buy a blazer and some nude heels. I have 3 weddings to go to next year within this period so I need some heels that I can wear to all 3. I also have a grey blazer that I want to buy for winter. So tomorrow I will get those and then I start officially on Saturday, 1st January. Arrgghh!! I was going to wait until 20th January to start (cos 6 months from that date, Crystal gets back from OS) but I decided that I have to pay for my car within the next 2 months and I would probably over do it with hoarding peices if I waited any longer..... and my car is vital to get around.

So yes. 6 months is my aim. I will update how I am going on here and will show any awesome ideas that I come up with on how to use an old piece to make a new trend :)

Proactiv- 2 months later

Its been 2 months of constant Proactiv usage, and I must say that Im not impressed. My skin is the same as before I started and its expensive, smells annoying and it bleaches my towels. Definately not worth it.
So I have decided to cease using this disgusting product and start using Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit range. Ive used it twice and LOVE the smell. Its like putting fruit juice on my face!

This Neutrogena range is great because it is the same as the original Oil Free Face Wash with Salicylic Acid but with a new fragrance, and this product is getting rave reviews. When I did my research for Proactiv, I found so many good responses to this, compared to Proactiv (but of course I got Proactive to test the hype)

So anyway you've read my journey with Proactiv. It didnt mess up my skin like others have said, but it didnt fix my skin like it said it would. So all in all im just over it and excited to welcome to Pink Grapefruit into my cleansing routine :)

Bag Lady

I just randomly decided last night to do a post on bags. Not any particular style, but just to do a simple collage of what my favourite looks are at the moment. I actually fell asleep last night while I was designing this, so its being posted a day late- my bad.

So as you can see below, I am particular liking the earthy colours at the moment, with browns, greys, pinks and greens. Im particularly liking anything with a long strap these days, as I come to appreciate the simplicity that these bags bring to my life :)
I also love clutches. Small and classy. I like the geometric prints or something that has a little BAM! to it for a night time clutch.

Anyway, this is my quick bag post, and I am not going to post another entry- because today is a pretty aweosme day.........

Christmas Rush

Only 4 more sleeps till Christmas!!!! I find it so exciting during the lead up to Christmas.
Carols, Shopping, parties! I just dont understand how you cannot enjoy it. I must admit though that finding the perfect gifts for each person can be difficult, but I learnt my lesson (5 years in a row) that it is best to start early and plan ahead. I had this awesome schedule planned out with each person down per week leading into the big day- i mean- I failed, but my intentions were there. The good thing was that I figured out early what to get each person....it was just that my execution wasnt so crash hot. So right now, I am still needing to get 3 more gifts, not including my secret santa for work.

Another big dilemna for Christmas is working out the Christmas outfits. I go to church on Christmas morning, so i get to choose 2 outfits for the day. For those not familiar with Austalian Christmas', they are pretty hot and humid and the days are usually spent with a BBQ/Roast Dinner, sitting around the outdoor table with iced drinks and jumping in the pool. Its pretty great.

My first outfit will be for church and the general thing to wear (for women) is a semi structured summer dress in bright colours (below). Think yellows, blues, greens and pinks and generally in a block colour or florals. Sunday best is very rarely worn in Australia (or atleast where I am from) but Christmas is an exception.

Ofcourse you can go with the more traditional outfits as per below but these are generally left to the under 12's in the church. But I think that these are cute dress ideas if you cant help but carry out the Christmas spirit.

Then comes the agonising decision on what to wear to the family lunch. Ofcourse its nothing too fancy over here. As mentioned its literally is a BBQ/Pool event with Christmas presents and tinsel thrown in. You have the decision on whether to just wear shorts and a top for all intensive purposes, such as sitting on the ground opening gifts to running around outside with your little cousin. You also have the option to wear your swimmers the whole day and slip on some slouchy shorts over the top. Lastly you could go a little more trendy and wear a jumpsuit/romper.

So all together, you can see that I have hard decisions ahead of me. Ofcourse I will post my outfits next week when I am back into the swing of things after my 4 day Christmas holiday. Until then though, I will still post some entries until the big day is upon us..

A week to go.....

Only 5 sleeps till Christmas! I love this time of year. My family always gets together on Christmas day for lunch and gifts and food enduced sleeping. Its great! With 5 days left, I am down to my last panicked week of gift shopping. I had all great intentions of buying 1 gift per week leading up to the big day, but of course, once again I have left it to the last minute. So this week I will be heading to the shops after work each night to buy another gift. I really dont mind as I do have a shopping addicition, so heres to a great week ahead.

My outfit below was inspired by a blog that i found this week by a blogger called Jennifer Humphreys. Her outfit here from her blog agogo (main site here) was amazing and I have been thinking all weekened about how I could use this look for work this week. I took the below top and knotted it so that skirt was high waisted.
Im actually running late for work now, so I must leave this post here, but I will update a few times this week leading up to Christmas with some ideas on gifts etc and some Christmas day outfits.

Fashion Icon- Fearne Cotton

One of my daily tasks is to check out whowhatwear.com for the latest posts on new fashions and trends. They often showcase the regular and well known celebrities on here such as Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung and Nicole Richie. However, I have become familiar with a little known fashion icon, Fearne Cotton. Her style is relaxed and eclectic. Red shoes with a purple top? Some how she makes it work and I am just in awe of how she pulls off these looks. Ever since i found her on this website, she is popping up on other sites and in my fashion magazines. Watch this girl.....

TOMS

I would really like to direct you all to an awesome website http://www.toms.com/. They are an amazing organisation, who when they sell a pair of shoes, then give a pair to a child in poverty. The shoes themselves are fantastic, but the the work they are doing in 3rd world countries is phenomonal. I have bought myself a pair of basic white ones, but they come in a many different colours and styles. Please help by buying a pair for yourselves or someone else. You could really help them make a difference.

Fashion Icon- Hills Special

one of my favourite TV shows was The Hills. Although the story lines were questionable, the fashion and style in the show were unstoppable. My personal favourite ofcourse were Lauren and Whitney. Special mention goes to Steph and Kristen. Below are my favourite outfits from all 4 of these stars. This is a special post as I am going away for the next week (and because I know Katrina is hanging out for this one!! haha).

Summer Nights

This is a carry on from the below post. I want to highlight what I believe are the key pieces for night wear this summer. Sequins are very big this summer for day and night. I love a nice white and sequin dress. I also am loving the sequin vests in Gold and Silvers. Lace is very big as well, but sticking with black lace is a nice change for evening wear. Even trying something unexpected like the gold lace blouse below. Shorts are very trendy for night time and a nice change from skirts and dresses. Try a dark shade and loose fitting for a more flattering look. Leather is still on trend this season with skirts and shorts. Try a high waisted leather skirt to make the look more current. Another skirt trend is a layered skirt, as well as a painted print. With dresses, I think it is important to have a LWD (Little White Dress) as well as a gem coloured lady like frock (ruby, emerald, sapphire, amethyst). With shoes, the pointed heels are back on trend and if you get a black pair, you know it will go with everything. A nude pair of heels are also a must. Statement jewellery is also key this summer. I chose the ring below, to match with the gem colour trend, as well as a new comer to the ring range, the muli finger rings. I am so loving a nice cream flower to put in my hair for both day and night.

Summer Days

I have put together a quick post of what I believe are the essentials for this summer.
You are going to need a nice straw hat, preferably a fedora. My swimsuit of choice is a bandeau set, in light pastel floral prints (see here for my other summer picks). A maxi skirt will take you from the beach to the night, and a nice cover up for the beach that can also be taken into night like the a sheer blouse. Denim shorts are a staple as well as basic loose high waisted shorts for a more sophisticated look. Espadrilles are the shoe of choice and nothing finshes an outfits off this summer than a simple denim vest. Im loving the cotton slouch bag to carry my essentials for the beach, and then a basic leather slung purse for day to day use.

Trend- Sporty Spice

There is a big trend in the fashion realm at the moment. Its one that I am choosing not to partake in, because I just don't suit it,  but on the right person, I think that it can look pretty awesome. This trend is labeled Sports Luxe. Its pretty much a more sophisticated take on sports wear. Below are some of my favourite pieces that would suit this trend.

Fashion Icon- Rachel Bilson

I am often inspired by a celebrity's wardrobe choice. Whether it be for a big event or a paparrazi shot, they always seem to throw something amazing together (or have an amazing stylist).

Over the last year I have really discovered who my favourite icons are, and I often go on deliberate hunts for their latest creation on either their blogs or fashion sites.

From this, I dreamt up Fashion Icon. Through this new thread, I want to show you who my fashion icons are and why. I am always finding new people through the likes of Whowhatwear.com or general scouring, so I am sure that this thread will have many new additions.

I wanted to christen my first Fashion Icon post with the my favourite icon, Rachel Bilson. I first discovered her awesome style when she was on the OC as Summer Roberts. But it soon became clear that it wasnt just onscreen that she created a stir with her fashion choices, but also in the fashion world. She often graces the best dressed lists and is always leading the way in the latest trends. One of her favourite designers is Zac Posen, whom I also love. I would say that her style is Wearable Trendy. You know how you get those crazy people who wear trends to the extreme (which i also love), well she is not like this. She seems to make anything and everything look easy to wear, and the best thing is that she never looks daggy.

Below are some of my favourite looks and some ideas on how to re-create them.

Proactiv- Day 16

Well it looks like I have a had a good reaction to Proactiv (Woohooo). Still clearing up some what but I think that in a week I could go out with no make up on. I cannot believe how smooth my skin is at the moment. I think Im going to need to book in for microdermobrasion at some point tho just to get the final look but I am very happy with the results. I guess it goes to show that it really depends on how Proactiv reacts to your skin type etc, and not everyone will get the same results. So my recommendation is to just try it. See if you get red skin or have a reaction of some sort, and if you dont in the first 2 days, then it should work. DID FOR ME!! :) Helloooo Summer.

Proactiv- Day 11

I feel weird writing about this and sharing my issue with you, but I really feel like i should. Mainly because alot of the reviews I read on Proactiv looked fake and I didnt trust them. So I had to do a true review on it, considering so many people want to know if it actually works.

Well its Wednesday. Apparently by day 12 my skin is suppose to be dramatically improving.
I dont know if it is or not. Im still breaking out a little, but my skin has stopped being so dry and the redness is going away. On Sunday it was impossible to put make up on, and I had to pack it on to actually have semi normal looking skin. Today though, I actually didnt have to wear so much to cover up.
To be honest I am just tired of trying this. Its only been 11 days but I have the worst discipline with this type of thing. I was whinging about to my Mum on the phone the other day, and she is insisting that I keep trying it for another week.

Im hopeful that this slight healing of my skin is a sign that totally clear skin is only a few days away.. Come onnnnnnn Proactiv!

Bronzed Up

My last post, which I didnt realise until now, was my 60th post. Thats a pretty massive effort. I cannot wait to reach my 100th post. I wonder what it will be on. Maybe I should leave it up to you. You have 38 post to decided so dont stress!.

I dont have much to report. I have a Proactiv post that I want to quickly write after this but other than that I have just been focusing on work and looking forward to my busy, yet exciting, month ahead of me. If you are not already aware, I am going to Cairns in December to visit my friend Erin. She is taking me scuba diving (which I am terrified about) and I am just looking forward to taking a real holiday besides my awesome weekend siorees to Sydney or Melbourne.

I also have my sisters formal next Friday (she is featured here). I have the day off to do her make up for the big event. We had her trial run tonight and she seemed really happy with how it looked, so Im happy too.

Once I have gotten past Ainsleys formal, and then the Cairns trip, I then have my work Christmas party, Home Group Christmas Party, Church Carols night, and then actual Christmas and New Years. Pretty packed, and I cant wait. I am also upping my exercise to make sure that I am looking my best for the numerous parties and events coming up.

Anyway I just wanted to do a quick post of my outfit yesterday. It wasnt anything exciting. Im actually more excited about the Polyvore collage I made for it.

All I want to do is Gossip

Ive been sucked into Gossip Girl once more. Having the first 4 seasons at my disposal isnt always a good thing. I am currently sitting in my room with all my necessities sprawled around me and by the end of my day today, I was actually craving to watch another episode. So here I am, season 3, Hilary Duff is guest starring I am absolutely loving the fashion!. My personal favourite is Vaness but the other girls grab my attention at numerous time per episode. This inspired me to have a look at each girls style and write this post.

Vanessa is from Brooklyn and her style is eclectic. I love her use of colour and patterns and she never shys away from mixing and matching random styles.

Blair is from upper east side and her look definately reflects this. She is very well put together and pretty much tried to finish each outfit with a cute headband.

Jenny is from Brooklyn but has been brought into upper east side royalty due to her Dad marrying Serenas Mum. Her style has changed so much from the beginning of the series. She was cute little Jenny Humphries and after mixing with the wrong crowd, and going through a mid teen crisis, she emerged a troubled rock princess with black panda eyes.

Serena is the star of the show (apparently pffft) and she was brough up in upper east side royalty. Living a life of luxury but trying to lead her own rebelious life has resulted in a pretty awesome wardrobe and style. She is always has a sophisticated streak but her outfits generally are smart casual street smart.

Being Proactiv

Most week while  I am watching TV I am faced with that over dramatised, and over lit ad for Proactiv skin treatment. I think I have counted 6 celebrity endorsers for this product so far. It started off with Jessica Simpson when it first came out. Since then I have seen Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry, Delta Goodrem and Julianne Hough.

So i took a step and bought myself a Proactiv kit. Now the women at the stall even said that my skin isnt that bad, but Im so sick of of having to wear make up in public. I just want to go into the summer months with clear skin and minimal make up :). So- here I go. I am going to let you know how it goes. I was given advice that it can take up to 12 weeks to see the final results of clear skin, but I was reading in the booklet that I recieved and this girls blog (still working out if real or marketing stunt) says that she saw results as soon as 12 days. So considering that I have "good" skin (pffft), Im hoping that my results will reflect the blogs results.

Right now I am at day 7 of trying Proactiv. I just started using it twice a day (have to use it once a day for the first week). My skin has gotten worse, which is what they say will happen, as the products draw out all of the impurities from your skin. So, at the moment my skin is cleaning itself. I have 4 days until my skin starts to even out, according to the blog. By then it will be Thursday- so i shall update you then.

4 days later....

So it took me 4 days to finally get my act together and  do a post. Ive been so focused on other things lately (other thing= Gossip Girl) that I just go to bed, check my facebook and then fall asleep these days.

However I thought that it was my duty to keep ontop of my posts. Ive only been doing this for 3 months so Im sure it will get easier. Ive also decided that I want to share my faith on this blog as well. Im a born again christian and stictly against bible bashing. I will not be forcing my opinions with you, but I simply would like to share my thoughts and some bible verses whenever I need some time to just journal about it, or just share a nice passage.

Anyway below are 2 outfits that I wore this week. I have been sticking to the basics alot lately (thus my lack of wanting to blog about it). Jeans and dresses have been a dominant trend, with sandals and cardigans. Very plain. Very boring. Although someone did say to me the other day that there is nothing wrong with wearing a summer dress and sandals, in summer! So TRUE!.

I just feel sometimes like I am given more leeway to design more unique outfits in winter, given the layering etc. So my aim this summer is to experiment with more daring summer outfits. I have recruited my Polyvore friends to help me find some new outfit styles for summer (still waiting on some responses/ideas grrr) and I am also exploring the web. I will post my outfits here when I come up with a good idea.

This first outfit is actually a romper/playsuit that I picked up at Valleygirl. Its actually suppose to be a black and white tribal print but I couldnt find anything like it in Polyvore. I mixed it with Bronze/Gold accessories like the sandals, earrings and necklace.

This next outfit I actually wore today. It was Friday, so casual wear in the office was acceptable. I wore a watermelon coloured blouse top from Dotti with my trusty JayJays jeans. Black Havaianas, a pink bangle, teal and bronze necklace and broze stud earrings finished off the look.

In both looks above I put my hair into a messy bun and attached a cream flower.

I promise to blog soon. Have a safe weekend

October Lusting

Lust

I was surprised to see my collage above once i was done, and the mixture of prints, colours and styles that I chose. Its very obvious that Im leaning towards girly, muted colours and styles at the moment, which is strange, because had I done this 6 months ago, I would of chosen alot of leather and khaki things. This is just what Im lusting right now- and it will probably change over the next few weeks.

Things Im Lusting...

As always, I am scouring the net for my next fashion crush. Not a man, but an item of clothing. At the moment, I am pretty content with my wardrobe- meaning that my lust list is less than 6 pieces right now..

Toping my list is a leather messenger bag with buckles. It looks so sauve and very practical- and so much kinder on your posture. I am also craving a man-style watch, Leopard print scarf, anything pastel and lace up shoes (as seen here)

Trend- Lace Up Heels

Whilst I was reading my weekly magazine, i came across a these great shoes like these that are currently on trend. I'd seen them once or twice around the clubs but I could never find them in stores- even considered buying rope from Spotlight and creating my own.
So Im hoping the the publicity in this weeks issue of NW will make way for me seeing these shoes pop up in stores.

Trend- Rompers

I feel that after my last post, I needed to come back to where we are now- SUMMER!!!. I am so excited for warmth, shorts and beaches!
So, a trend that I will be embracing this coming season will be the romper. You need to find the right style for your body shape but anyone can pull off a romper. Celebrities who have been acknowledging this trend have been Blake Lively, Cat Deeley, Lauren Conrad, and Audrina Patridge.

Let me know if you find the perfect one :) ......Love Julz xx

Fall Trends- Buy Now!

While I was scouring the stores this past weekened, i noticed that alot of next winters trends are on sales from our past winter season stock. So, I thought that I would pass on my knowledge to you all, and help you out on some bargains.

So, pen and pape girls. Next season you are going to want to have the following things. You can get most of these now on sale before summer comes.

Hope this has helped you. Dont forget though, that this stuff will go into your cupboard for next year- but atleast you know you saved a load of cash now, instead of waiting till all the new stock comes in.
