Fashion Icon: Ashley Greene (ft. Jackson Rathbone)

If you didnt already know, I am a MASSIVE Twilight fan. I watched the original movie 4 times at the cinemas, and continued to watch it nearly every week when it came out on DVD. I then got equally involved with the remaining movies in the franchise. Last night was a sad realisation that the franchise was ending, as I sat in the cinema to see Breaking Dawn Pt 2.

So many stars have been introduced to us from this franchise like K-Stew, R-Patz and Taylor. But to be honest my favourite two actors from the movie are Ashley Greene (Alice) and Jackson Rathbone (Jasper). Im not really a fan of their characters and their style in the movie but in real life they both are incredibly gorgeous, with Ashley actually having long beautiful hair and serious style cred, and Jackson being this epic hipster musician.

Below is a style guideline for some of Ashleys greatest looks... and I also added some sly pics of Jackson with his offbeat style for the gents to copy if they so wish :)

Christmas Gift Ideas: Adult Siblings

If you are lucky enough to have sibblings like I do, you will know how amazing they are. You do everything imaginable with them from eating together, playing together and going through every life event with them and they are like your own bestfriends that live with you.

Unfortunately, I dont live with my sibblings anymore but now that we are all grown up, we actually value our time together and opinions and advice, and seriously, nothing beats quality time with your brother or sister right?

Like I said, my sibblings are all grown up now with them ranging from 16-23 (Im the eldest) so obviously the gifts need to be age appropriate. This post will be on gifts for adult sibblings and can pretty be suitable for anyone from 16-30.

First the brother Tim. Tim is pretty trendy and is really into his music. He is a guitarist so guitar picks would a great idea, or even an ipod dock so he can just relax and listen to his music. My brother also loves his black Rayban Wayfarers... but always breaks them. Some other ideas would be DVDs of his favourite movies, clothes and maybe even a bottle of his favourite alcohol if he likes his drink (Tim not so much)
Brother xmas

I have two little sisters Ainz and Court who are freakin incredible. They have very similar taste to me. One sister has identical taste with a love for vintage and the other is more into bright quirky things, so they are very easy to buy for. I also have a sister inlaw (brothers wife) who is equally as incredible, and has a little bit more of a modern taste.

So whilst very different in themes, the general taste is the same.. ie music, shows, clothes etc...
So for my sisters, I would always go for jewellery first. Something from Diva or Collette for something trendy. All my sisters love their technology so a cute phone case is a safe option . Also, considering Im a makeup artist, they always appreciate a makeup gift like a palette or brushes. Other ideas include perfumes, swimwear, scented candles (we love caramel and indulgent smells) bags and you could even go for something really sentimental like an engraved bangle. BFFs!

Trend: Metallics

Metallics are always a big trend around December, as they are the 'go to' material for New Years Eve paties etc, but this year it seems like metallics have a more broad appeal with it being one of the most sought after trends this summer.

I personally think there is such a fine line with looking cute and looking trashy with the trend. I think the best way is to start with accessories... a silver belt here and some gold heels there. Then you can work your way up to a metallic skirt or shorts, or a dress with metallic colour blocking on it.....and if you really want to embrace this trend, then by all means throw on a metallic jumpsuit or maxi dress!!!

Below are some pieces that I think are perfectly acceptable for tapping into the metallics trend this season. I love how the top below combines the metallic craze with the peplum and how awesome is that sweater!!! Its so relaxed yet the gold puts a more formal spin on it so you can wear it out for dinner or drinks :)

Christmas Gift Ideas: Parents

Im going to christmas-fy myself this year like nobodies business... Im talking christmas ringtones, decorations on work desk, house decked with tree and bling and carols playing ALL the time. No one is going to mistaken what time of year it is... NO ONE!! :)

I love Christmas and everything that it stands for. I love the atmospher, the time you spend with family, christmas parties, carols and gifts.. and I especially love the Christmas story and events my church puts on. Did i mention I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!???

Last year I put together some posts on christmas outfits and really thats it... Im going to now Christmas-fy my blog :)

So first up, gifts... geez its hard to think of something cool and original to give to someone. I always have a brain freeze at christmas time, after spending all year trying to store up my gift bank in my head with ideas... never works.

Anyway here is my gift ideas for those certain people in your life that you have/want to buy gifts for. There are the sibblings, the grandparents, housemates, bestfriends, work secret santa, house party hosts, partners and most importantly (atleast I think) parents. I LOVE MY PARENTS.
So I thought I would kick off my Christmas posts with ideas on what to get your parents.

Firstly Dad.... ohh my Dad is the coolest. Im talking the hip, teacher/electric guitar playing dad.
I usually end up getting him clothes because its the easiest thing to get him and I know what size he is.. and it means I have a say in what he wears :P
Gift ideas for dad include the typical cologne, clippers, socks and facial kit... but here some things to think about... what makes your dad, your dad? My dad is about coffee for aslong as I can remember, he also loves orange flavoured chocolates.... and embarressingly, he carries a manbag around with him.... so why not give him a new coffee machine? or a cool bag which you wouldnt be ashamed to have him carry around?
Dad mXmas

Then there is my Mummy. She is the most beautiful, caring, loving mum in the world (we all say that dont we :)) But seriously my mum is mega hot and hip and I really dont know how I ended up with such cool parents!! Fo shiz!
So, mumma, she loves pearls, so I thought why not a cool twist on pearl earrings? Some other traditional gifts for mum include, perfume, candles, makeup bag. Does your mum like to cook? My mum does.. what about a kitchen aide mixer? or a cook book? Is she trendy? How about a new scarf... or go all out and get her a funky new handbag... they seem to carry everything with them, so get something big but cute.

Let me know of your gift ideas for your parents? xx

Skin Types 101

Ok, so I have been wanting to do this post for awhile.

As alot of my readers know, Im a Makeup Artist. I am qualified and I am also trained in skintypes and cleansing too. Alot of people I come across ask about oily skin, dry skin and problem skin and what the best products are for your skintype.

Well here is the basic breakdown for you and what products to look for..

Normal Skin- Your skin has small to medium pores. You dont get shiney, nor flakey. Your skin reacts well to most products and seems to be able handle alot of wear and tear.

Stick to milk or lotion cleansers. Can handle any type of toner and a regular moisturiser will be fine.
Look for the word "normal skin" in the title

Oily Skin- You have larger pores. Your skin is always shiney by the end of the day and you tend to break out. You need to stick mattifying foundations and oil free powders. You can get away with scrubbing 3-4 times a week. Look for foaming or gel cleasers and for light/ oil-free moisturisers. You can also get away with alcohol in your toner (if not sensitive). Make sure that you do moisturise, otherwise your skin will freak out at the lack of moisturiser and produce more oil.

Ingredients to look for include cucumber, tea-tree oil, green tea, citrus, witch hazel (these combat shine)

Look for words like "oil-free", "mattifying", "shine free", "refreshing" or anything where it says its specifically designed for oily skin or oily/combination skin.

Dry Skin- Your skin cant seem to have enough moisturiser. Little to no shiny-ness. Sometimes flaky in extremely dry areas. Shows fine lines (or deep lines). Small pores. Look for milk or cream cleansers and medium-rich moisturisers. Can only hand a scrub 1-2 times a week.
Look for words "soothing","moisturising", "rich" etc. Usually will say for dry skin on packet.

Combination skin- Is generally either oily/normal or dry/normal... which basically means you are not an extreme case of either, but you have oily areas like your t-zone, or dry areas like your cheeks.
Its best play around with all products. You might find that a cleanser for oily skin works best with a rich moisturiser or visa versa. You might even like putting a rich moisturiser on your cheeks and a light on your t-zone. Its all trial and error really. Or look for products specifically designed for combination skin

And then there are skin conditions which affect all of the above skin types....

Sensitive skin- Can either be caused by touch or chemicals. Goes red as soon as you touch your face, or if you use a product thats too harsh or has perfumes in it.

When scrubbing, look for a gentle scrub with micro beads or oatmeal pieces.

Look for "soothing", "calming", "gentle", "sensitive". Usually see chamomile or oatmeal in the ingredients.

Mature Skin- Usually start to see the early signs of aging in your 30s with fine lines around the eyes. In your 40s and 50s you will see deeper lines in your eyes, forehead and mouth. 60s you will start to see sagging. Sunspots and liverwarts are also conditions linked to mature skin, that cause pigmentation. Oily skin is renowned for aging better than dry skin, due to the extra oil found in the skin surface.

Look for products with "ant-aging" or "mature" in the title. Usually find that serums are very big in the category and eye creams. You should start using an eye cream at 25.. as aging is inevitable.

Acne Prone Skin- Acne prone skin can mean your basic adolescent acne that disappears after highschool, to adult acne which can be an absolute pain to treat. Acne ranges from the occasional monthly breakouts, to full blown cystic acne.

Alot of companies  especially cater for acne prone skin like Clean & Clear and Clearasil. But most companies have a line designed for acne prone skin. Look for words like "acne prone", "clarifying", "purifying", "clearing".

Also look for ingredients Salicylic Acid, Benzyol Peroxide or AHA.

So my pictures below are a little out of order when I created them but it gives you some ideas of the products that are on the market for each skin type and condition. If you want specific names click on the collages below, and it will take you to the list of products. Hope this helped :)

Fashion Icon: Elizabeth Olsen

Elizabeth Olsen has spent most of her life living in the shadows of her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley. In the last couple of years she has finally stepped into the spotlight and come into her own. Ive known about Lizzie (as her sisters call her) for years, since the twins got their hollywood walk star and they had the family group photos. She looked stunning back then and I could wait till she would finally step out from behind them.

I see Elizabeth as having similar style to Ashley, very classic but without the crazy homeless extras that you sometimes find with the Olsen Twins. She wears very comfortable relaxed basics with structured pieces. Even her shoes are very classic so that she can reuse them.

Below are some of my favourite looks from her.
