I have a very special announcement to make to you all...

I am so excited to announce that on Sunday night, my amazing boyfriend had organised the most beautiful candle aisle on the local beach, with the help of my brothers and sisters and he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!!

He is single most amazing guy that I have ever known and I am so blessed to have him in my life, and to marry him. We are getting married in July 2014 and I cannot wait. For those who don't know anything about our relationship, we started dating about 3 months ago, but we first met over 6 years ago through mutual friends, and we clicked straight away. Over the last 6 years we have lived in different states and have done our own thing (always keeping in contact) and finally we decided that we were each others "ones" and we have made the big leap :)

I will start a new post series on here that will document the journey of my wedding planning.

I cant wait!! I am so excited!!!!

Trend: Black Lace

I love lace.

I love it everywhere around me from what I wear, to decorations in my home. Its so intricate and feminine and has an old world glamour to it. The problem is that lace is generally associated with summer dresses and vacations and warm evenings drinking cocktails....... enter its winter alter ego- black lace.

Its the cooler, funkier version of traditional lace and its so hot this season! Im taking black lace dresses, tops, skirts and lace detail has even been translated on bags and shoes. Lace can add statement to your boring back dress and can also add a little controversy by showing a little skin.

Below are a couple of my picks for this season. Would you wear any of these?

Fashion Icon: Jaime King

I am late comer to the ring, but I love Hart of Dixie. I have a slight (major) appreciation for vintage influences, and I love how HOD incorporates the old school glamour in small town Bluebell with the modern day luxuries of today. So chic!

I did a post on the very trendy and super cute, Rachel Bilson (Zoe Hart) a year or so ago, so now I want to showcase the incredible fashion styling of the other leading lady, Jaime King (Lemon Breeland), who is expecting a baby very soon!!

Winter Fun- Sight Seeing

In light of my nearing holiday, I wanted to showcase outfit ideas for sight-seeing. There are so many different places to go sightseeing in either metropolitan areas or more rural areas, so I wanted to give two options, to cater for your destination.

The first look is for those going sight seeing in major towns and cities. Whether you are having a cultural day experience in museums and galleries or going to look at cafes and shopping districts, this outfit should get you through perfectly. Out of the two, this is closest to something I would wear, and is actually something I plan to wear next week when I visit the city. When I know I will be walking around alot, I like to wear leggings or stockings, as I find that jeans and pants can get somewhat uncomfortable after awhile.

Biker boots are great for walking around in, as they have awesome support for tired and sore feet. I love the khaki jacket (which is identical the one in my wardrobe) as it adds street cred, warmth and comfort, all in one go!
A satchel bag is always great for sightseeing, as when you are in a city that you unfamiliar with and when you are holding money and documents, its great to have a bag that is strapped around your body. I hate walking around busy cities with a bag hooked around my elbow... I just feel unsafe. Sunnies are a must, and the best types are the ones without nose hooks (like on aviators) because I always find myself sliding them up and down off my head, and nothing is worse than getting those caught in your hair :(
sight 1

Next outfit idea is for those who are perhaps going to a small rural town, beach town or farm-scape.
Jeans are always great in these instances. I always find that I spend alot of time in a car either driving to each location, or on four wheel driving adventures. So I think a nice stretchy pair of jeans are great in this instance, as you never know when you are going to have to jump out and climb over some rocks, or help the car out of a ditch. Checked shirts are a little stereotypical of farm wear, but I just love a good checked shirt. They are very on trend at the moment and they are generally pretty warm on those cold days. I also added a nice neutral jumper to throw over the shirt when the days get a a little colder. Boots will always be a comfy choice when trekking any rough terrain and aviator sunnies are safe option for this type of trip as the majority of the time would be in the car or outdoors.

Let me know which option you would pick on your next sight-seeing holiday!

Trend: Camo Inspired

Camo and camo shades are very on trend this winter ( and the up coming summer). I've seen it popping up everywhere lately and I'm so glad because one of my favourite jackets is a khaki anorak. To be honest, khaki has been around for some seasons now, but the actual print of camo is massive, especially on jackets and pants. I love the new camo anoraks with studs and distressing. Its so cool and effortlessly chic, and can make any outfit appear that much cooler. I also love skinny jeans in the camo print.

Camo shades such as olives and moss greens are such a great neutral base for any outfit and the colouring is so flattering on most figures. It creates a great line, like most dark shades do, but the colour also lifts the skins complexion, therefore not leaving you washed out, like black can sometimes do.

Of course, as with any trend, its best to pick one piece of the outfit to sport a print or colour, as you can end up looking like you're wearing a uniform, which is a big no-no! So, here are some great camo inspired pieces that you can add to your wardrobe.

Winter Fun- Movies

Movies are the best. I love nothing more than going to the cinema with a big popcorn and losing myself for a good two hours in a fantasy land. I honestly prefer going to the cinema with friends and family, but dates can also be fun at the cinemas.

Although there is nothing more awkward that going on a first date at the cinemas where you both sitting in silence, whilst trying to work out what the other person is like, and whether they will hold your hand... and then you miss most of the movie cos your worrying too much....... Okay, back to fashion!

The cinema is sometimes a difficult location for choose what to wear. Will I be cold? Will I see people I know? Am i going to meet someone cute or just with friends? Should I just wear my trackies?

Well I can clear up the last one for you.... NO! Don't wear your trackies! Just don't and save yourself the humiliation. You will always (and I mean always!!) run into that guy when you don't want to- its the laws of nature.

So what do you wear? Well I have a trusted little outfit that will get you through.

Leggings + slouchy jumper + statement necklace + cute flats = foolproof outfit.

The leggings provide warmth in those over air conditioned rooms, while still being super comfortable. The slouchy jumper provides the same comforts, and if you choose a black jumper you can still look very slim (and it will hide any food spillages!) The statement necklace adds a little bit of glam to the outfit, as well as the cute black ballet flats.

You will have no issues running into that cute guy at the cinemas now! Enjoy the film!

Trend: Contrast Sleeves

Ive been noticing a trend, especially for winter, that looks really cool. I haven't jumped on the bandwagon myself yet, but that is due to limited cash, not lack of interest.

This trend that I speak of... is the contrast sleeve.

The only way I see this trend being "trendy" is by going with a coloured body and black sleeve. Its the most flattering and most visually appealing (in my humble opinion).

Ive seen some great combinations, like khaki and leather contrasts, denim and black, and then regular colour blocking. Its something different, to give your outfits a little kick, and also lets your play with the layering look (which is always hot), without actually adding layers....because it looks like you are wearing a vest or sleeveless dress over a longer sleeved shirt.

Here are some killer pieces below that you can experiment with in your wardrobe :)

Winter Fun: Bonfires

A few summers back I did some posts on outfits to wear to typical summer outings and events. I decided to do a similar one for this winter.

For my first event, I picked bonfire. Living in coastal Queensland it doesn't get frosty or anything but it does still require a jumper to get through the evenings (sad i know). I often wish we had cooler weather so I can wear coats and gloves but it never gets that cold. I hardly get any use from my jackets......

Anyway bonfires... this outfit is for those who are able to enjoy bonfires in the winter time. So ive created an outfit using boyfriend jeans so that its easier to move around and get comfy in. I also added a loose knit jumper to throw over your singlet or tshirt for when the sun goes down. I decided on some canvas sneakers that are functional yet still on trend because there is nothing worse than having cold and dirty feet. Lastly I added a slouch beanie for a little street cred on those super chilly nights. This outfit will provide warmth and comfort without sacrificing any style :) Enjoy- more to come!

Fashion Icon: Jennifer Hawkins

Woops... Been awhile again :P Ive been busy this week doing some posts up for you all... so dont fret.

Now please tell me you have heard about the fabulous Jennifer Hawkins? Those outside of Australia may not know her but she is our shining glory to the Miss Universe competition in 2004 and took the crown. Since then she has graced many magazines, adverts and became the face of Myer. So she is pretty massive down here. She recently took on the role of host on Australias Next Top Model... Australia's Tyra Banks :P

Anyway she is gorgeous and lovely and my family met her back in 2006 when she was only emerging, and she was so sweet to them ( I missed out because I was shopping.. der)

So having access to all the designers that anyone could only imagine, has led to her having a sick wardrobe and she has created some killer looks. Below are some examples of her style. She is typically pretty polished in her shapes but amps it up with colour and prints.

Next Season- Orange

Its interesting to get hold of fashion magazines and blogs that are based in the USA and Europe, because it allows us Aussies to have a glimpse at what is on trend for the next season. I love going through WhoWhatWear.com, Instyle.com and various fashion blogs, to see what everyone is wearing, and then if I like a trend, I try and snag a deal before shops decide to hike the prices up for the consumer hype.

So I'm going to start a post called Next Season, where I share trends with my fellow Aussie fashionistas, so we can all get a leg up on the rest of the trendy population.

For my first Next Season post, I want to share how orange looks to be a hot shade for summer. Orange was a colour that was showcased in the Resort 2014 collections for Emporio Armani, Versace, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Christian Dior... so its bound to be hot.

I picked out a few items in the citrus hue to add to your wardrobe for this coming Aussie summer.

Pretty Little Liars

I am a little hooked on Pretty Little Liars at the moment. Im up to season 3, which I know is a little behind... but Im getting there :)

I love the fashion on the show (and the guy candy) so I put together a little something special for those who enjoy the show and fashion as well.

Ive showcased the main four girls from the show and a typical outfit of theirs. I have Spencer, who wears alot of preppy outfits, riding boots, knee high socks and plaid. Then we have Aria who wears alot of handmade/crafted pieces, with a rock influence. Hanna is the high fashion lover of the group; always sporting a new Proenza handbag, chic blazers and flirty dresses. Finally Emily is the casual trendy girl of the bunch. She was originally found to be in alot of denim and tshirts, but lately can be seen wearing boots, jackets and trendy accessories.

Formal Weekend

What a busy weekend!!

It was my baby sisters formal on Saturday night, so Saturday was spent doing makeup for her and two of her friends. It was a lot of fun, but it has kept me from doing anything on the blog for the last couple of days.

Anyway, here is a shot of Courtney and her best friend Josie at the formal- they looked amazing!!

Outfit: 10th June 2013

One of my favourite things to do at the moment, is to go four wheel driving. I go with my bestfriend and her family and I have the best time. Im always holding on for dear life as the passenger and quite often someone gets stuck or has troubles getting through a particular part, which always makes for great videos or photo moments. This past long weekend I went again after it had been raining. It was a little chilly and wet, so I wore some warm but comfy clothes.

Fashion Icon: Kat Graham

I am a MASSIVE fan of The Vampire Diaries, and there is no other actor on that show who knows and lives fashion like Kat Graham. Kat plays Bonnie Bennet on the show and her character is nothing like her real self. She is outgoing with her fashion choices and always makes a statement. Below are some of her looks that I have recreated for those who want to emulate her style.

OOTD: 6th June 2013

Ive decided to bring back the Outfit of the Day (OOTD) post. For those of you who used to read my blog back when I first started. you will know that I do the OOTD's differently to most other bloggers. I make collages of my outfits instead of photographing myself. There a couple of reasons for this; firstly I didnt have anyone to talk my pictures for me, and secondly I dont know how to work a camera.. i come off looking rather dorky! Lol

So for now I stick with collages, but who knows what the future holds!

Today I went to the mechanic to get my car serviced and visited with my best friend, so I went for a smart casual outfit. I wore my dark green jeans and cream camisole. I threw on my trusty beige cardigan and floral scarf and finished it off with my black sandals :)

Winter Trend: Oxblood

So its official... IM ON UNI HOLIDAYS!!!!
So now I am finally free to work on this blog and devote my time and energy to you lovely people.

So for this post I wanted to share a trend that has been around for a few months now but will be around for more to come. Its the oxblood trend. For those who don't know, oxblood is the name given to a very deep maroon colour. Its a great colour for winter as it warms up the usual black and grey colour palette but still falls as a winter shade.

Below are some great items that you can add to your wardrobe this winter; my personal favourite being the oxblood jeans.

My Winter Staples

I've hated not updating this blog for the last couple of months. University has completely taken up my focus. And when I'm not studying or painting, I'm turning my brain off with television shows like The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars and Hart of Dixie.

Although I'm right in the very middle of my assessment week, I need to focus on something else for an hour, so that I wouldn't go insane. So I thought I would give you guys an update.

So its pretty freezing at the moment here in Australia (well parts). As you would know, I am a massive fan of the cooler seasons, as its when I feel like I can play around the most with my wardrobe. Plus I like feeling all cosy in bed or on the couch in my comfy bed socks :)

So for this post, I wanted to talk about what has been on high rotation in my wardrobe this past couple of week since the cold front hit.

So first up is my khaki jacket. Mine is made of raincoat material so its fantastic when the weather is looking a little wet. The tone of the green manages to go with every outfit as well. Summer dresses are a massive staple in my wardrobe but I team with  more wintery items to get the most out of them. I love pairing them with stocking or leggings, biker boots, scarves and big cardigan for an outfit that's effortless chic.

Brown boots have been a recent addition to my wardrobe and I'm loving how the unexpected brown adds character, but still look like they belong to the outfits. Chunky knits are a great way of looking smart-casual but warm, and I love pairing them with jeans or even over a skater skirt and stockings. Scarves are my staple for winter, and I have many colours to compliment most outfits. Chambray shirts are great for adding street cred to your outfit instead of a cardigan or jacket. Its not the warmest of outerwear so I keep this for warmer days.

I live in my hoodies. I sleep in them, I wear them around the house, and considering I'm a uni student, home is where I spent most of my days :) Something else that I live in, that I didn't add in the picture below are cardigans. I have all colours to match most outfits and they  are so warm and comfortable on those days where structured jackets just aren't your ideal choice.
Stockings are great for when I want to wear my summer dresses and skirts. I use stockings to team up with my favourite pair of biker boots. These biker boots rough up any outfit that I feel is too girly. Unfortunately mine are starting to break, so I need to find some more asap.

Dark nails are a must for me in the winter. I change mine up every few days and alternate between greys, reds, browns and black. I feel naked without nail polish on. Leggings are the most versatile item in my wardrobe. They never get a rest, no matter what time of year it is. I wear them almost every day alongside my hoodies. But they can be paired with skirts, dresses and longer tops to create casual outfits with boots and sneakers. I even wear them under cocktail dresses with heels for a more dressy outfit. Summer tops are great for layering under cardigans and jackets. And finally coloured jeans are a must in my wardrobe. I throw on sandals or boots with cardigans and jackets for an every day look.

Winter Line Up

I hope that update was worth the long wait and hopefully Ill be back blogging more regularly soon. I hand in my last assessment on the 4th of June, and don't have any plans as of yet for the holidays. So if that stays the same, then Ill be back blogging as of the 5th June :)

Keep safe and thanks for staying loyal

Goodbye Serena

I recently watched the last episode EVER of Gossip Girl.

I was a mess. I had tears down my face and didnt want the episode to end. I honestly thought the finale was amazing and wrapped up the storylines in a nice little package and have no compaints whats so ever. My favourite part was the 5 years later flash that they did- awww.

Anyway, here is my ode to my favourite TV Fashionista Serena Van Der Woodsen....may you always wear Gucci!

Summers Day

As we enter into February, the sad realisation comes that summer is almost over.
In Australia, especially in Queensland, we spent alot of the summer at the beach. I dont know if you have looked at Australia on the map but most of the population lives no more than 2 or 3 hours away from the beach in the outer regions of Australia, leaving the middle for dessert and small mining communities. Hence, most Australians spending atleast one weekend of the summer, at the beach.

Below are some staples that I believe are essential for a day at the beach. Enjoy, and remember to slap on the sunscreen :)

In the Navy

In the Navy

One of the best colours, IMO, for any occassion is navy. Whether it be for a formal event or just casual basics, navy is staple for any wardrobe. It is the perfect substitute for black, when you want to shake it up a little. Not only does the colour flatter most skin types, it also compliments most colours too, making it the perfect staple basic. If you dont believe me, think of denim.... navy right?

To prove my point, I have come up with some classic navy pairings, to show that any colour will compliment a navy piece of clothings, whether it be as the main focal point, or with accessories.
Another thing I wanted to add, is that navy is perfect for any season. You can go nautical in summer with navy and white, or effortlessly cool with navy and black for winter.

Below I have my first ensemble created for a casual summers day. This navy shirt is paired with red shorts for contrast. Because we are going to keep it casual here, I kept the accessories to a minimum with navy canvas shoes, leather wrist bands and a fedora hat. I also added a floral cross body bag.

Next I upped the ante a little with a pastel pink bustier top paired with a navy high wasted skirt. I added gold sandals and leopard print bangles for some cute contrasts.

Last, for a more formal occasion, I used a yellow dress as the basis of my outfit. Yellow is the contrasting colour to blue, therefore making it the perfect shade to colour block with navy. I added navy heels and jewellery for a subtle navy kick and finished it off with the ever-trendy leopard clutch.

SAG Awards 2013: Hair & Makeup

Hair and Makeup this year was a stand out for me.
I love how most had flawless skin with either a dramatic eye or bold lip. Some even took a risk and did both, and in my opinion, one or two killed it.

So below in order from top is Jennifer Lawrence. She nailed it with emphasizing both the lips and the eyes. The eyes arent too overwhelming with a soft grey smokey eye, paired with a ruby red lip. I think some extra care does need to be taken with Jennifer so as not make her look like she has a lazy eye, which it did look like in some photos.

Julianne Moore showed up with flawless porcelain skin and natural features. I think this look is perfect because on ageing skin, the more natural the makeup, the younger you look, and also her red hair often is the centre of attention.

Claire Danes was the absolute winner for me this year. I cant fault the makeup, with the brown smokey eyes and burgandy lip. It is absolute perfection!! Also her hair is in my favourite upstyle of a loose chignon which ties the whole look together.

Jaimie Alexander and Maria Menounos both rocked the smokey eye this year and nude lip. Both paired it with polished updos which finished the looks off perfectly.

Lastly, Nina Dobrev did a makeup look that I havent seen on her often. It was soft, almost natural and she actually had bangs in her hair. She never has any front pieces and she is always sports a harsh centre part or high bun. So I think she looks amazing with this different look.

SAG 2013 HairMakeup

Onto the fails for hair and makeup. There was three standouts for me, starting with Rose Byrne. I dont know what happened here but her hair is flat, and her eyes are smudgy, but mostly its the hair for me. It looks greasy and slicked against her head but not in a cute 1920s way. I can see what she was going for here but it didnt work.
Next is January Jones. Now she doesnt usually make it on the best dressed lists for me, but she sure doesnt make it on the worst dress lists either. She usually plays it safe and flys under the radar and after this attempt of attention, I think she should stick to safety. I think the makeup could have been nice had it been paired with a better hairdo but oh my goodness... no words. That hair...seriously no words... fire your hairdresser.

Lastly is Kaley Cuoco. I hate to have her on this list because I love her. She is so funny and doesnt take herself seriously and is on one of the best shows on TV. But this look makes her looks like she is 50. Where did those lines come from? The black liner drags her eyes down to look droopy, and the makeup is on too thick. Also the hair just looks like a wig. I hope she can pull it together for next time because she just seem so nice and is so naturally pretty.

Well this is my wrap up for the 2013 SAG Awards. More award shows to come soon and more posts on fashion and beauty in general :)

SAG Awards 2013: Worst Dressed

Ok so I am going to make this post short, because lets face it, these people failed on the red carpet, and that not anything to rave on about :) The sad thing about my picks are that they are well known actors who just couldnt pull it off this year, and usually make it on the best dressed lists... well most of them

So first up is Sarah Hyland in Dolce&Gabbana. Poor girl seems to always make it on the worst list for me. I think she tries to hard. She is only in her early twenties and she looks like she is pushing 30 at award shows. Just relax and embrace your youth.

Next is Kaley Cuoco in Ramona Kaveeza. This dress just shortens her body so much that she looks like she kneeling. Nothing more to say...

Last is the beautiful Anne Hathaway in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. First I need to express my distate for her hair. I am very biased with her and her long hair. It suited her better and made her look younger. I know she cut it for the role of the century in Les Mis, but extensions maybe? I dont know but onto her dress. I dont like her in black for starters, and then the cut again makes her look stumpy. This cut should just be left for under 5's.

Hopefully these ladies will amp it up for the Academy Award (fingers crossed). Stay tuned for the hair and makeup wrap up :)

SAG Awards 2013: Best Dressed

I love Award Season!!!!
The Screen Actors Guild Awards were held recently in the United States and again the red carpet is where my attention gravitates. Unfortunately I wasnt able to watch the red carpet live this year, so I had to settle for researching the frocks and fashions online.
Is it just me, or does not make any sense that there are 2 award shows after eachother that critique the exact same batch of people and usually end up in the same people winning? Anyway who am I to judge, it just means more red carpets for me to pull apart :) Winning!

So first up are the best dressed of the evening.

Amanda Seyfried killed it in this navy gown by Zac Posen. The cut and the shape was divine, the fit was perfect and the train was just right. Next on my best dressed list is Nina Dobrev in Elie Saab. In my eyes Nina can do no wrong. Be it my obssession with The Vampire Diaries, but she is just amazing and beautiful and could pull off a paper bag. This pink of the dress is gorgeous and you dont often see it on the carpet. The peek-a-boo cut outs are awesome as well. Absolute winner.

Two people who I have honestly never heard but should be kept on the radar are Jaimie Alexander and Zuleikha Robinson. Firstly, Jaimie absolutely nailed it in Marc Bouwer. Its almost mermaid style finishing mid thigh and flaring out, with this insane cut out, soft panelled neckline. It was magnificent. Now, I know I said previously that I dont like prints on the red carpet... well sometimes celebrities can get it very right. Case in point with her Gustavo Cardile gown. She has manage to attract some negative opinions with this dress but why? I think the fit and the cut is beautiful on her. The colours are very water-colour and they do not overwhelm. I think it is a winner for sure.

Finally my last two of the evening are regulars on my best dressed lists. Katrina Bowden in Badgley Mischka and Maria Menounos in Randi Rahm. I think Katrinas dress is very elegant. The colour is the beautiful misty blue colour which looks amazing in the chifon material. Its fitted yet flares out at the knees and I cant fault it. Maria always looks stunning. Her body is rocking and she knows how to show it off in her red carpet picks. This red dress just complements her colouring so well and it skims her figure perfectly. You cant see it here but the dress also has a low back and honestly the only thing I can fault is the train of the dress. Its like it tried, but it failed.

Stay tuned for the fashinon fails and beauty posts coming soon :)

Golden Globes 2013: Hair & Makeup

Straight into it....

Julianne Hough killed it on all fronts this year. As mentioned in my previous post, i was a big fan of her dress, and she also smashed it with her hair and makeup. The rocker hair and smokey eye makeup contrasted well with her floaty white dress.
Also nailing the makeup this year was Francesca Eastwood. Daughter of Clint Eastwood, she was 2013's Miss Golden Globe, and she gave a giant nod to old hollywood glamour with barrel curls and red lips. She looked stunning.
Another favourite for hair and makeup was Jennifer Lawrence. Again she nailed it with her outfit and also with her hair & makeup. I am such a fan of the messy updo and she pulls it off so well. Her makeup was understated but beautiful.
Lastly, Katherine McPhee paired that killer dress with a messy top knot and black smudged liner. I loved this look. So polished but messed up a little. Fine line between slept in and polished and she did it justice.

There was some shockers this year aswell.
Firstly with J-Lo. She looks like she slept in her makeup before she got out of the limo. Its all smudged and dirty looking. I dont know what happened here.
Argh, What happened to Nicole Richie!?? She is one of my biggest fashion icons and she just messed this look up. Blue eyeshadow? Granny hair? She looks 80 in this picture! I hate it! Why Nicole?
Next is Jessica Alba. At first I was a fan of the look and then I changed my mind. That lipstick does not match the dress. Who pairs orange lips with a coral dress. No they are not the same shade!!
Finally, Sarah Hyland. Poor thing tried to do something different this year with wearing her hair down. It was too much with that dress for starters, and then that makeup... I know gothic makeup is big at the moment but she looks like granny tried to dress her up and do her makeup. Its wrong and she looks so old. Definately not her best look.

Golden Globes 2013: Worsed Dressed

This year there were a few dresses that I didnt love. They werent overly bad compared to other years or award shows but I definately think that these ladies could do with a new stylist or better friends to help decide. So...here we go.

Kicking it off Lucy Liu in Carolina Herrera. I dont have words.. really what was she thinking? I dont know if she was going for avante gard but it has come off childish and weird. I dont like it. Im not really a fan of prints on the red carpet in the first place.

Same goes for Halle Berrys Atelier Versace dress. Nothing else I can really say.

The cut on Jessica Chastains Calvin Klein gown just did not fit her properly. The plunging neckline was gaping and I think her frame is too think for this type of look. I felt the colour washed her out a little too.

Sienna Millers Erdem dress looked like it could of be worn to high tea with the queen. Too stiff, and again with the prints!

Amy Poehler should know better than to wear a pant suit to the Golden Globes. Her outfit was made even less formal with he capri pants. Dresses all the way please!

Tina Fey again looks like she should be at tea with the queen. This dress by L'Wren Scott, just wasnt formal enough for the carpet.

I am so disappointed with Marion Cotillards outfit. This Christian Dior Couture dress looks like a dress from my circa 1998 junior formal. Its childish and does nothing for her figure, and those shoes are rather displeasing...

Alyssa Milano chose the wrong material. The colour I dont mind, but it was too shiney and unflattering. She actually looks pregnant, which she isnt! (or hasnt announced) and I know for a fact that she has a killer body!

Golden Globes 2013: Best Dressed

Welcome to 2013. New year, new goals and new blog.
I plan on changing the feel of the blog over the next month, and with that, a new structure. I want to have a new post every day (or few days) but Ill get to that in another post...

The Golden Globes were held today in Los Angeles, where the weather was uncharactaristically chilly, according to the live E! coverage that I watched this morning (I live in Australia).
Apparently, there was a buzz going around about how everyone would be wearing colour on the carpet this year, and I think this 'word' absolutely drowned any chance colour this year with the ladies opting for more monochramatic gowns, to buck the trend.... fail.... a trend was instead created.

This year my favourites gowns fall into 3 categories; white, black and colour.

I am also going to have 2 other posts on fashion fails and then my favourite hair/makeup looks. So hold tight!

White was definately a trend this year. Less bridal, more jaw dropping. Julianne Hough... well the name in itself is a knockout, Julianne is obviously an amazing name!! The dress, by Monique Lhuillier, was so beautiful, with toule and gems and layers going here and there. It would have been very easy for the dress to overwhelm her but she pulled it off so well. Also in white was Amanda Seyfried in this stunning Givenchy gown.  It was panelled in places and sheer in others. It hugged her in all the right places and it was heaven! I think Hayden Panettiere, who wore Roberto Cavalli, killed it this year. Her dress was fitted in the body and kicked out below the knee into this chifon-y mermaid train. She looked so fresh and the dress was very age appropriate.

White Golden Globes 2013

Next were the black gowns, and leading the pack was Katherine McPhee in Theyskens' Theory. That plunging neckline and the peek-a-boo leg slit all combined for the most stunningly sexy dress. Her body was absolutely banging in it too. What I would do for her figure! Nicole Kidman some how got on the best dressed list. What happened? Apparently her stint playing Grace Kelly brought back her interest in fashion, and thankyou goodness for that. Welcome back! She looked amazing in this black dress from Alexander McQueen. It was like a faux two-piece with a solid back top and skirt and a sheer, bedazzled mid section. Her body is also in fine form, so this dress sat perfectly on her, and can I also say that she is 45!!! Seriously, come on now!! Giuliana Rancic was reporting on the red carpet looks but she definately killed it with her gown too. This artwork of a dress was by Celia Kritharioti, a greek designer, and it was insane! That neckline was so intricate and was a nod to the gothic trend from yester-year which I hope makes a come back. I havent seen it in trend forcasts that Ive read, but fingers crossed. Finally, Kate Hudson, red carpet royalty. She looked divine in Alexander McQueen. I must say that I feel like I have seen this style on her before but it just suits her. The fitted, almost jersey-like material, with a keyhole peep at the front and long sleeves. Her body is rockin' as well, especially for a mamma. She looked so fresh and vibrant.

Last in the gown category is colour.. and to be honest its not like my picks are all bright. Firstly I have Taylor Swift in Donna Karen. I must admit that I am not usually a fan of her red carpet looks. She always looks too pretty and girly and almost tweenie, but today she looked HOT! Taylor grew up, finally! She was a little rock'n'roll and a little sexy. This deep plum dress was all business in the front and absolutely bare in the back. I dont think I have ever seen her take such a risk and I love her for this. Her hair also was different with it pulled up and slicked slightly to go with the rock/sexy theme, and she didnt do red lips!!! Next was Jennifer Lawrence, the woman of the night, wearing Dior. I heard there was a lot of talk and a big divide on this dress. I personally loved it and think she absolutely shone in this outfit. The red of the dress conmplimented her skin tone so well, and that belt really pulled the look together. I also liked how her hair was a more warm/light brown than she normally wears. She just looked radiant, and so she should, she got best actress! Last on the best dressed this year, is Emily Blunt in Michael Kors. I dont know what it is exactly that I love about this dress. I think its the strange colour. Ive never seen it on the carpet before. Its almost mustard but a pastel version. The beading is to die for and the cut is so daring yet demure. I love it.
