How To Style: Denim Shirt

Last post, I spoke about how denim is very key this season, even to the extend on doubling up on bottom and on top. If you are unsure how to rock denim this season, I have made it a little easier for you with my new post called How To Style.

With this new series I will attempt to show you how you can style a key piece, colour or trend in 4 different ways...The office, girly weekend, girls night out, and relaxed/sporty.

Today I am showing you how to fit the chambray/denim shirt into your look, depending on your event or your plans for the day.

For a night out, I would button up the shirt the whole way and throw on a statement necklace around the colar. I would wear a short leather skirt to balance it out and some sexy heels.

For a girly vibe, I love mixing florals and denim. This crop top and skirt combo is perfect for a cooler spring day, once you throw on your denim shirt and tie the front in a knot. Throw your cross body bag over your shoulder, and slip on your sandals and you are ready for a brunch or shopping date.

For the office, I would button the shirt up, leaving the top two buttons undone. Its important not to show any cleavage so throw on a camisole underneath if you need to. I would tuck the shirt into some white trousers and make a statement with print skinny belt.

Lastly for a sporty/relaxed vibe. Throw on your favourite coloured shorts and graphic tshirt, with some trainers, and leave the shirt open and flowing. This looks so carefree and you can finish off this look with a statement cap.

I hope this helps you out, and let me know if there is a tricky trend that you trying to conquer.

Trend: Denim

Jeans are always going to be fashion. That is a true statement.
It all really just depends no what cut is in fashion or what rise of the waistline is on trend.

This season though, denim is taken to a whole new level. We are seeing denim dresses, shorts, overalls, shoes, shirts and skirts. Its denim overload and everyone is loving. Double denim is especially popular this season, with a strong nod to the 90's with shapes and styling.

I remember rocking a denim dress when I was younger in the 90s, and then denim skirt in the mid 00's. So its time to bring it all back this season and dont be scared of too much denim. Try denim jacket if you are too scared to go the whole hog, or maybe even the overalls for something fun.

Below are some key pieces that are very on trend this season.

Fashion Icon: Nina Dobrev

I'm a little bit obsessed with Vampire Diaries (Ps it returns in October!!!! yayaya!!)

So it goes without saying that I follow Kat Graham, Candice Accola and Nina Dobrev on Instagram. I have already posted on how amazing Kat Grahams fashion is here. But I have lately become intrigued by Nina's fashion sense and well her social media accounts in general. And she is best friends with Julianne Hough, so really, can she get any cooler?

Here are some of my favourite outfits of Nina's and how you can recreate them!

I love how she mixes basics with statement pieces. Its very much a look that we can emulate in every day life!!

Spring Fashion Trends 2014

Its been a couple of days since my last post but thats because I have collecting information on all the best trends for Spring 2014. As I always say, in Australia we are always a season behind in fashion which is a blessing and a curse. A curse because, well we have to wait to get all the trends in stores here and we are usually going into the opposite season have to wait till temperatures are suitable, but a blessing because it means we can start rocking summer or winter fashion a season early if we can find the items online, or we already own them. In saying that, keep an eye out for the Spring 2015 sneak peak coming next week, if you want to get ahead of the Aussie fashion pack.

For now though, this is my wrap up for the top trends for Spring 2014. I have combined a couple of trends in a few items to make it more simple. So here it is...

First trend is something I always love to wear in Spring, and that's florals. The prints are even bigger this year so go all out if you can. The other trend in this particular outfit is the matching set. Whether you choose to do a pant suit, a skirt and top or slim fit suit; if you can find it in a matching print, then you are winning. The next trend is of course the denim. Double denim is even big this season so go all out! Geometric prints are all the rage this spring with checks being especially popular like in this skirt below. A big trend on the red carpet this season has been the ear cuff or going large on one earring and smaller on the other side. Both are very on trend. White was everywhere on the run ways for 2014 and especially in the form of the crisp white shirt. Pair it with white pants and its double points! Sport Luxe is continuing on as a must trend, but if it isnt your thing, just add a baseball cap! Blush is the main colour trend for spring, with it being seen in some of the biggest shows at fashion week, and this blush top demonstrates the crop top trend which is massive this season. Pair crop tops with high waisted items so that you are showing the smallest little sliver of your upper waist. Fringe is very trendy with it especially prominent on bags, shorts and kaftans. Curvy girls rejoice because fuller skirts are big this Spring, with a longer length preferred. Lastly block heels are in -YAY- and our ankles can relax with this great support.

Emmy Awards 2014

I wanted to do a quick post with  my favourite picks from the recent Emmy awards.
There was a lot of red on the carpet this year and people were making daring decisions in cuts, lengths and materials!
My favourites this year are from some people that dont usually appear on my best dressed lists.

First up is Taylor Schilling in this amazing Zuhair Murad dress. Its a little sheer, a little shimmery, and a little nude. Its super sexy without being too over the top, and she looks absolutely stunning.

Next is Julia Roberts. She usually plays it safe and I am a fan of the unexpected. This dress by Elie Saab is incredible. It looks like it was made to her shape and its so fun for her, especially on such a traditional carpet. And seriously, 46 years old? I dont think so, look at those pins!

Last is this dress by Lorena Sarbu is just divine on Hayden Panettiere. Its fits her like a glove and shows of her glorious baby bump. She looks glowing and so she should!

This is my wrap up for the Emmy's red carpet. Who were your picks this year?
